FinOps Collaboration: Assign, Discuss and Track Every Finding

A savings finding nobody owns is a savings finding nobody fixes. TurboFinOps gives every finding an owner, an in-thread discussion with @mentions, and a tamper-evident activity timeline — so cost work moves instead of sitting in a dashboard.

What blocks savings today

Findings pile up because no single person is accountable for fixing them.

Context lives in Slack threads and DMs that disappear, with no link to the finding.

Auditors ask "who decided to suppress this?" and the answer is a shrug.

What TurboFinOps changes

Assign any finding to a teammate; they get an email even if no Slack channel is wired up.

Discuss in-thread and @mention the right owner — mentions are validated against active membership.

Every assignment, comment, edit and status change lands on a per-finding activity timeline.

Workflow

Built for governed execution, not passive reporting.

1

Assign an owner

Pick an active member from the assignee picker. The owner is notified by email and a "My findings" filter lets them see their queue.

2

Discuss with @mentions

Comment on the finding and @mention teammates. Mentions resolve server-side against current membership, so nobody outside the org is reachable.

3

Edit and correct

Authors can edit or delete their own comments (admins can remove any); an "(edited)" marker keeps the thread honest.

4

Keep the trail

Assignments, comments and status changes write to an AuditLog-backed activity timeline shown right on the finding — ready for review.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do teammates need a Slack channel to get notified?+

No. Assignment and @mention send a direct transactional email to the person even when no Slack, Teams or email channel is configured. If channels exist, they also receive the event.

Can someone be mentioned or assigned if they are not in the org?+

No. Assignee and @mention identities are re-validated server-side against active organization membership, so a known finding id cannot be used to reach an outsider.

Is there a record of who did what?+

Yes. Every assignment, comment, edit, delete and status change writes an AuditLog entry and appears on the finding’s activity timeline with the actor and timestamp.
